VIRTUAL INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

DEBT SYSTEM IN TIMES OF FINANCIALIZATION AND THE
THE IMPORTANCE OF AUDITING TO STOP BARBARISM

PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has led to millions of deaths across the planet, we have seen the financial privileges of banks increase in several countries, due to the actions of central banks as a veritable belt of transmission of public resources to banks through non-transparent and illicit monetary policy mechanisms.

The increase in public debt and the worsening of the economic crisis as a result of this monetary policy operated by central banks has served as a justification for the deepening of counter-reforms that destroy the structure of the state, suppress social rights, and compromise the provision of public services to the population, in addition to subjecting strategic and profitable public assets to insane privatizations!

All this is happening after the historical process of generating public debt had already been highly questioned, due to the lack of counterpart in public investments, the transformation of private sector debt into public debt and various other mechanisms, especially those operated by central banks, which led us to create for several years the term Debt System, precisely to characterize this operation in reverse of the instrument of public indebtedness.

The organization of the virtual International Congress “Debt System in times of financialisation and the importance of auditing to interrupt barbarism” intends to discuss these issues in order to reinforce the need to understand these mechanisms that have fed the Debt System and to shed light on this process through the use of the powerful tool of auditing, as proved in Ecuador, Greece, Brazil, among other citizen experiences. We demand that the auditing of debt with popular participation be a permanent measure in all countries. Our goal is to promote and empower social struggles for human rights, the fight against inequalities, and the guarantee of a decent life for all people.

We invite students and all interested people to register for free and participate in this important initiative.
